We first met Mike and Nicky Rutherford in 2010 and they were keen to install Electronic labels into their Super Value based in Oxford, Canterbury. The next day the region was rocked by the magnitude 7.1 Earthquake, which was the first of the damaging quakes.
In 2012 after many more earthquakes hit the region, Super Value Oxford had to close for Earthquake strengthening. Being the only supermarket in the area, Mike and Nicky along with the Waimakariri district council set up a temporary store in the communities Jaycee Hall before returning back to the Super Value site. The damage to the site was so severe that Mike and Nicky decided to upgrade by building a brand new Fresh Choice behind their Super Value so the town was never without a supermarket.
Finally on August 24th 2015, Fresh Choice Oxford opened its doors to their loyal customers. Increasing their product lines will mean less trips into town to competitors for the locals.
Fresh Choice Oxford opted to install HD E paper throughout their store including in the produce department. This is a new angle for the WDL group which works well for both store owner and customer. The department managers have also downloaded the Pricer App from the App store, so they can use their smart phones on the shop floor to link, un-link and add items like country of origin to the labels as required. New time saving technology keeping staff on the floor assisting customers!
